Mulberry Lavender Lemonade Recipe

One of the best summertime drinks is fresh-squeezed lemonade! And if you are able to get some lavender and mulberries, you can add some for a little twist in flavor and color! We love to make this drink because it tastes amazing and it’s essentially waste-free.

🍋Use the lemon peels later for other recipes (put them in the freezer to keep longer), or compost them.

🍋Lavender is also found locally, or can be grown in the backyard.

🍋And mulberries are in full season right now, with many trees in the Dayton area (if it is on someone’s property, ask before picking).

There are many easy recipes for lemonade online, and if you feel like your lemonade needs more juice or sweetness, then go ahead and add more! (Natalie has invested in an AICOK juicer to make juicing faster. It’s lasted 6 years and still going strong).

To make the lavender syrup, simply bring 1 cup of water and 3 tablespoons of lavender to a boil. Reduce heat and stir in sugar 2 cups of sugar until it dissolves. Let simmer for at least 15 minutes and then strain. When adding to the lemonade, substitue the sugar in the lemonade for the lavender syrup.

Add the mulberries last. All your have to do is muddle 3 tablespoons of berries with 3 tablespoons of lemonade (in order to draw out more of the mulberry juice). Then strain the berry juice into the entire pitcher of lemonade.

Stir well and serve over ice! Or, have spice it up and add a little vodka.
