New Board Members for 2025

At our board and team meeting last week, we officially welcomed 3 new board members for 2025, Dawn Kirchner, Megan Moon, and Holly White.

Dawn Kirchner studied biology and environmental science at Wright State University before discovering her passion for working with the public. This led to her transition from a formal lab environment, to a career in science communication and education in museums and science centers. In 2021, she shifted her career toward community engagement, taking on the role of Volunteer Administrator for the City of Kettering. In early 2025, Dawn was promoted to Sustainability Manager, where she looks forward to collaborating with residents, business owners, and city staff to transform current practices into sustainable opportunities that will benefit future generations. Having grown up in a household that prioritized recycling, composting, and gardening, these values continue to shape her daily life. Outside of work, Dawn co-owns Full Circle Brewgarden with her husband, where she serves as the head kombucha brewer, and serves on the Sustainability Committee of the Ohio Craft Brewers Association.

Megan Moon is a humane educator, yoga teacher, consultant, and nonprofit leader. Most recently, she founded and served as the President of the Humane Education Coalition, a global collaborative that provides resources and teaching tools for educators around the world who teach about environmental ethics, human rights, and animal protection. Megan is the 2020 recipient of the Weller Prosocial Leadership Award, recognizing educators and advocates who embrace prosocial education as a means to create long-term, sustainable change in their community and around the world. She is passionate about protecting the planet and improving the welfare of all living beings, and she believes education is an essential pillar in creating a more compassionate world. Holly White is a local environmental advocate who strives to make small daily changes to positively impact my eco footprint, and loves to share her passion with others. Her journey with low waste began within her home, making one swap at a time, beginning with paper towels! She loves to engage with the community by organizing a local playdate group, coordinating multiple meetups per week that focus on a love for the outdoors encouraging the goal of 1,000 hours outside. Within that group she focuses on event planning, communication, and organizing. She has a strong belief in realistic, practical sustainability, and understands the challenges the average household can face when trying to reduce waste.

With their passion for sustainability and community engagement backgrounds, we’re excited to strengthen our board with these additions.
